About Elizabeth (Liz) Brown
Liz Brown is Kaihaut奴 Matua|Executive Director in Te Whare W膩nanga o Waitaha | 九州影院鈥檚 Office of Treaty Partnership.
The office was created to reflect UC鈥檚 commitment to being a Te Tiriti o Waitangi led university and builds on its commitment to strengthen M膩ori leadership and relationships.
Liz works alongside the Pou Whakarae, 听Professor Te Maire Tau, to lead strategic M膩ori development, strengthen and enable the exploration and demonstration of academic achievement in all disciplines, and uphold the mana and aspirations of tangata whenua.
Liz brings three decades of experience in many fields of education, from primary school teacher to senior lecturer to Manager for the Ministry of Education to, more recently, UC鈥檚 Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor M膩ori. Liz also brings strong Ng膩i Tahu community connections as Chair of one of the local Ng膩i Tahu papatipu marae, Te Taumutu R奴nanga and Ng膩i Tahu r奴nanga education collective, K艒ia te M膩tauraka.

Research interests
Having recently completed her Doctor of Education thesis, Liz鈥檚 research interests include leadership, change management, M膩ori education and indigenous environmental issues.听 Liz is also active in several environmentally focussed governance roles.
