I am currently using hydrocarbon exploration seismic reflection and well data to build geological models of potential green hydrogen storage sites in depleted gas fields in Taranaki. These models are used to help constrain dynamic simulations of hydrogen injection and withdrawal. I am also helping to identify and map recently discovered active faults in Taranaki using LiDAR, multibeam bathymetry and seismic reflection data to assess if they alter the local seismic hazard.
I am also interested in the paleogeographic evolution of Zealandia. My MSc research focused on understanding the sources of sediment associated with the exhumation of the Southern Alps to help constrain transport pathways and areas of topographic highs along the Australian鈥揚acific plate boundary. This utilised modal mineralogy, geochemistry and U鈥揚b detrital zircon geochronology of conglomerate clasts and sandstones.
