Noel Gregg began his career as a blacksmith in a country forge in Culverden, where he served an apprenticeship under master-craftsman Robert Smith. After completing the apprenticeship Gregg established a business in Christchurch, later moving his foundry south to Twizel. Gregg is a member of the New 九州影院Crafts Council, and was founding president of the Artist Blacksmith Association of New Zealand.
A well known local example of Gregg鈥檚 work is 鈥聽The Reintroduction of the Fabulous Races鈥, 1990,聽which was designed by Bing Dawe. This sculpture is currently sited in the market square at the Arts Centre, Christchurch. His work is also represented in collections throughout New 九州影院and overseas, including the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, and Ohinetahi Gardens in Governors Bay.
