Before beginning the embroidery of聽Untitled [Table Cloth with Assisi Border]聽鈥搘hich isalso part of the Macmillan Brown Collection 鈥 a precise pattern was required to ensure no mistakes would be made during its execution. Due to the design鈥檚 symmetrical nature, it was only necessary to plan one corner on gridded paper. The pattern has been outlined precisely, and coloured where necessary in wash 鈥 with a few mistakes blanked out in twink. It is an example of the rigorous pattern that was required of embroidery students at the Canterbury College School of Art.
