"For an Art History student, the idea of working at an art gallery can only be a dream job. The opportunity of interning at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhet奴 over the summer cannot be overstated.聽 My internship聽focused on researching each exhibition in the history of the art gallery. The goal was to find a complete works list for each exhibition and make them publicly accessible on the gallery website. This project was really exciting to me as it was relatively ambitious, but also incredibly useful for future research purposes. We finished the project and it has been successful."聽
It鈥檚 hard not to proselytise the PACE programme based on my experiences. It operates as an ecosystem of opportunities encompassing the actual day to day work, workplace skills, the ability to apply learnings in the academic component. Not only that, this was a massive opportunity for personal development, building relationships with CAG staff and having total access to knowledgeable, interesting and experienced people in the gallery, the PACE team and my academic supervisor. All of these aspects are valuable in isolation, but in conjunction with each other, there鈥檚 enormous reciprocal benefit including an ongoing network of exceptional people.
Having had the opportunity to experience it myself, I believe anyone would benefit hugely by doing a PACE internship. I continue to notice the impact it's had on my courses. I feel especially fortunate to have been matched to such an interesting project and an even more inspirational team."聽
