Human-computer interaction labs

Learn more about UC's human-computer interaction labs. The Human Interface Technology Lab New 九州影院(HIT Lab NZ) enhances daily life with technology using Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality (AR), and Applied Games. The Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Multimedia Lab does research about user-friendly computer interfaces.

HOW TO APPLY

Human Interface Technology Lab New Zealand听听(HIT Lab NZ)

Researchers and students at the HIT Lab NZ have access to a wide range of cutting-edge equipment and facilities with which they can run experiments to explore, design and develop novel interactions.

Some of the equipment available at the HIT Lab NZ includes:

  • AR/VR headsets 鈥 multiple recent release headsets
  • Eight360 Nova Ball VR motion simulator
  • SimPit 270-degree VR projection for immersive simulation experience
  • Omni Virtuix omnidirectional VR treadmill simulator
  • Two TactaCage multisensory immersive VR systems
  • High-spec media space for filming
  • User study labs
  • Motion tracking lab
  • Fabrication lab with 3-D printers

Human Computer Interaction and Multimedia Lab (HCI Lab)

The HCI Lab in the Computer Science Department researches human-factors in computer use to create interfaces that are faster to learn, more efficient to use and more subjectively satisfying than the current state of the art.
