Master of Audiology

Introduction

The Master of Audiology (MAud) at UC focuses on training professional clinical audiologists. It comprises coursework, clinical practice in a variety of settings, and audiological research experience.

Te Kura Mahi 膩-Hirikapo | School of Psychology, Speech and Hearing serves Aotearoa New 九州影院and the world through excellence and innovation in scholarship, teaching, and public service. The School has four on-campus laboratories featuring state-of-the-art electronic and assessment equipment.

Entry requirements

Admission to the Master鈥檚 degree is based on the evaluation of your ability to undertake postgraduate study in a specialist field of inquiry or professional practice. The primary basis for selection is on academic merit, however consideration may also be given to other factors.

The MAud does not require prior training in Speech and Language Therapy. You should have either:

  • a Speech and Language Pathology bachelor's degree; or
  • any bachelor鈥檚 degree with relevant coursework (eg, Arts, Engineering such as Electrical and Electronic or Mechanical, Health Sciences, Science, or Teaching and Learning); or
  • been admitted with equivalent qualifications to the above by the University.

Students with a different undergraduate background to that of the above, and with a strong achievement record, will still be considered. All students must be approved for study.

How to apply

Entry into Year 1 of the Master of Audiology is limited. You will need to submit an enrolment application via as well as a separate application form to Te Kura Mahi 膩-Hirikapo | School of Psychology, Speech and Hearing by 1 October.

How do I plan my degree?

The Master of Audiology takes 2 years full-time, or 4 years part-time to complete.

The first year includes coursework up to 120 points and a clinical placement, and the second year involves a clinical placement and thesis work.

  • Coursework develops knowledge and skills across the scope of practice, including a strong foundation in acoustics, psychoanalytics, and neuroscience.
  • Clinical practice is undertaken with adult and paediatric clients in different clinical settings.
  • A thesis project is mentored by leading research staff.

The Master of Audiology programme is fully endorsed by the . Upon completion of the degree, students are able to work as audiologists within Aotearoa New Zealand. The degree is also recognised internationally.
