Science Undergraduate Scholarships

UC offers a range of scholarships to help our undergraduate students. Check out some of the Science undergraduate scholarships available at UC.

HOW TO APPLY

This is a summary list of many of the UC Scholarships that are available for students enrolled in an undergraduate degree in the Science disciplines at UC.

Each scholarship has different eligibility criteria so check the details of each one to find out if you're eligible.

These scholarships are subject to funding availability and are reviewed each year. TheUC Scholarships Office administers most of these scholarships. Please search ourfor all scholarships currently available.

Value: Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 per annum for up to 3 years.

Details: To support students who are enrolled at 100-level in a BSc degree majoring in Biological Sciences at the ӰԺ.

Closing date: 31 March

Value:The funds can be used to provide grants for the purpose of travel and approved living expenses, research equipment and any other purpose that benefits or promotes the astronomical work of astronomy staff or students at UC in relation to Mt John Observatory.

Details:To inspire andsupportresearch in astronomy at the ӰԺ Mt John Observatory.

Closing date:Applications may be made to theHead of the School of Physical and Chemical Sciencesat any time.

Value: Financial assistance up to the value of $5,000 per annum; for up to a total of 3 years (full-time) or 5 years (part-time).

Details: To inspire and assist students of exceptional talent in Aotearoa New ӰԺto begin a career in Astronomy. Applicants must be commencing their second year of a BSc or BSc(Hons) degree programme majoring in Physics or Astronomy and be enrolled in at least one Astronomy course in each year of tenure. Applicants must be Aotearoa New ӰԺcitizens or permanent residents.

Closing date: N/A - enrolment in the second year of an undergraduate degree programme majoring in Physics or Astronomy at UC will be regarded as an application.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $5,000 for one year

Details:To support undergraduate and postgraduate honours students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | ӰԺ who have an interest in the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand.Applicants must be enrolled full-time at the University in the third or fourth year of a programme for an undergraduate degree or a postgraduate honours degree with a major in an Economics, Engineering, or Science subject, or in another subject of relevance to the energy needs of Aotearoa New Zealand. Applicants must be Aotearoa New ӰԺcitizens or permanent residents.

Closing date:31 March

Value: Financial assistance for one year to the value of: (a) $2,000 for honours or masters students doing courses; (b) $7,000 for master's thesis students; or (c) $8,000 for PhD thesis students.

Details: To support students studying Computer Science at the ӰԺ. Applicants must be enrolled in either (a) the final year of an honours degree in Computer Science; (b) a Master's degree in Computer Science; or (c) a PhD in Computer Science.

Value:Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study, up to the value of $7,000 for one year

Details:To provide financial assistance to enable students to obtain tertiary qualifications in the sciences with the potential to contribute to the technological wealth of New Zealand. Applicants must be under 25 years of age when applying for the scholarship and studying full-time in an undergraduate degree programme in any physical science subject, such as chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, mathematics, and applied sciences. They must have successfully completed at least one year of tertiary study at Lincoln University, ӰԺ, or Ara Institute of Canterbury and must have had not less than four years' secondary schooling in a(excluding state-integrated) within the boundaries of the.

Value:Financial assistance at a value of $3,000 per annum for up to two years.

Details:To recognise academic achievement in subjects based on pure and applied mathematics at the undergraduate level and supports students of Economics and Finance at UC.Preference is given to applicants whose transcripts show a strong background in Mathematics or in Statistics or other areas of applied mathematics. Applicants must be in the final year of a programme at the University for an undergraduate degree with a major in either Economics or Finance (or both).

Value:Financial assistance at the value of $1,000 for one year

Details:To encourage and promote undergraduate study in the area of agricultural engineering. Applicants must have been born in Aotearoa New Zealand, and enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor's degree of Bachelor's degree with honours that includes at least one course in agricultural engineering.

Value:Financial assistance with the costs associated with university study to the value of $5,000 for one year;plus, Tait Communications may offer a recipient paid employment during the summer vacation following tenure, provided a suitable position is available.

Details:To support undergraduate students in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Software Engineering at UC. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in one of the following: (a) the Third or Fourth Year of a BE(Hons) degree specialising in either Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or Software Engineering; (b) a 300-level programme for a BSc or BSc(Hons) majoring in Computer Science. Applicants must be Aotearoa New ӰԺcitizens or permanent residents.

Value:Financial assistance at the value of: (a) $5,000 (Category A awards); (b) $2,500 (Category B awards); (c) $1,000 (Category C awards)

Details:To recognise and support high-achieving 200-, 300-, or 400-level students majoring in Applied Data Science, Computational and Applied Mathematical Sciences, Data Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics at the ӰԺ. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 60 points of the above courses (not including any thesis course).
