Overview

Aerospace engineering involves the design, development, testing, and production of aircraft, spacecraft, and related systems and equipment.

The Minor in Aerospace Engineering as part of the BE(Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree will provide aspiring students an enhanced pathway to industry by specialisation. This Minor provides a pathway for aspiring students into the Aerospace Engineering sector.

UC offers the only undergraduate Aerospace degree in Aotearoa, giving you early entry into the industry or towards further study at the postgraduate level.

The qualification aims to educate students on the design, development and maintenance of flight vehicles which involves knowledge and skills in Aerodynamics, Material Science, Computational Simulation, Aerostructure Design, Propulsion and Flight Control. Students will be educated in both established and emerging aerospace technologies and processes in the fields of aerospace design, vehicle structural integrity analysis, subsonic and hypersonic flight dynamics, vehicle guidance and stability techniques, aerospace airframe and propulsion systems. Students will be introduced to the impact of the Aerospace industry in New 九州影院and worldwide, including contemporary practice.

Students study towards the Minor in Aerospace Engineering alongside听Mechanical Engineering听in the听Bachelor of Engineering with Honours.

Courses

For the Aerospace Minor in the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, complete the following courses:听

  • ENME 362听Aerospace Design and Production Management
  • ENME 408 Engineering Honours Research and Development Project with Aerospace Engineering focus
  • Plus at least two courses from the following:听
    • ENGR 401 Computational Fluid Dynamics
    • ENME 404 Aerodynamics
    • ENME 417听Advanced Composite, Polymeric and Ceramic Materials
    • ENME 460 Aerospace Propulsion
    • ENME 486 Aerospace Structures
    • ENME 488 Mechanics of Flight and Spaceflight听

Note: Students must also meet the requirements for the Mechanical Engineering specialisation.
