Entry requirements

Note: The GradDipMLP is currently not open to new enrolments.

The GradDipMLP is open to those who are provisionally certified as teachers, those that hold a subject to confirmation practising certificate, and full practising teachers.

You will need to have completed an Aotearoa New 九州影院teacher education degree (or other qualifications of an equivalent standard) to enrol in this programme.

There will also be a hui with the Programme Coordinator as part of your application to assess your current level of te reo competency and ascertain the support you will need during study.

This Diploma is particularly suited as preparation for the Master of H艒aka Pounamu | M膩ori Bilingual and Immersion Teaching and Learning.

The Diploma will improve your teaching capabilities by strengthening your worldviews, language ability, and cultural awareness. You will be able to bring this sense of kotahitanga unity to your teaching style and create a wh膩nau community atmosphere within your classroom.

Our government has announced initiatives to teach Aotearoa New 九州影院history in schools by 2022, and to integrate te reo M膩ori studies by 2025. Graduates of this Certificate will be well prepared to meet this need, and will find themselves highly employable as a result.

An ability to teach both to and of indigenous cultures will also prepare you for careers internationally in countries looking to further embrace their own cultural histories.
